Gadani
Gadani is a coastal village of Lasbela District located in the southern part of Balochistan along the Arabian Sea, Pakistan. It is also a Union Council of Hub Tehsil and is just a 1-hour drive away from Karachi, Sindh. The population of Gadani was estimated to be around 10,000 in 2005. More than 97% of the population is Muslim with a small Hindu minority. The majority of population speaks Balochi and there is a small Sindhi speaking minority. In Gadani majority of the population speaks a language named Balochi, this language is derived from Iran. They belong to Sanghur, Kurd, Sajdi, Muhammad Hasni, and Bezinjo tribes.
Many prehistoric shell-midden sites were discovered along the shores of a small bay, near Gadani. They are characterized of heaps of fragments of marine and mangrove shells among which are flint and jasper tools and stone querns. The first radiocarbon dates obtained from these middens indicate they result from the activity of people who settled along the coast both during the seventh and the fifth millennium before present.

19 killed in Gadani ship-breaking yard explosion The death toll from an explosion and fire at Gadani shipbreaking yard has risen to 19, officials said Wednesday, as a search continued for more victims. At least 58 others were wounded on Tuesday when a gas cylinder exploded and started a fire inside an oil tanker at the Gadani yard. "It can take another 48 hours to control the fire, as the tanker still has a significant quantity of oil present in the ship," said Commissioner Kalat Hashim Gulzai. Local firefighters supported by the Pakistan Navy and coastguard were still battling to extinguish the fire Wednesday, Hashim said. Supertanker named FRONT DRIVER, built in 1991 by Hyundai Heavy Industries South Korea (and owned by Frontline Management of Norway) - Now at the end of it's service life comes to Gadani beach of Pakistan, for decommissioning and breaking. All the steel (almost 90,000 tons of it) will now get recycled, and used within Pakistan. This video shows how a giant ship such as this arrived at Gadani beach (on November 28th 2012), and how got broken up. 19 killed in Gadani ship-breaking yard explosion
The death toll from an explosion and fire at Gadani shipbreaking yard has risen to 19, officials said Wednesday, as a search continued for more victims.
At least 58 others were wounded on Tuesday when a gas cylinder exploded and started a fire inside an oil tanker at the Gadani yard.
"It can take another 48 hours to control the fire, as the tanker still has a significant quantity of oil present in the ship," said Commissioner Kalat Hashim Gulzai.
Local firefighters supported by the Pakistan Navy and coastguard were still battling to extinguish the fire Wednesday, Hashim said.
He said the contractor for the tanker work had been arrested and all shipbreaking at the yard has been banned while safety standards are reviewed.
A local government official, Zulfiqar Hashmi, said that four more bodies were found from the sea with minor burn injuries. He added that it could not be ascertained whether the workers died inside the oil tanker or as a result of jumping into the sea.

Supertanker named FRONT DRIVER, built in 1991 by Hyundai Heavy Industries South Korea (and owned by Frontline Management of Norway) - Now at the end of it's service life comes to Gadani beach of Pakistan, for decommissioning and breaking. All the steel (almost 90,000 tons of it) will now get recycled, and used within Pakistan. This video shows how a giant ship such as this arrived at Gadani beach (on November 28th 2012), and how got broken up.

Welcome to my channel InfoHub. Gadani ship breaking yard is the world's third largest ship breaking yard. The yard consists of 132 ship breaking plots located across a 10 km long beachfront at Gadani, Pakistan, about 50 kilometers northwest of Karachi.
The yard is located on a 10-kilometer stretch of beach along the Arabian Sea, and it employs thousands of workers who dismantle decommissioned ships by hand. These workers use simple tools like hammers and blowtorches to cut up the ships into smaller pieces, which are then sold for scrap.
The ship-breaking process at Gadani is known to be extremely hazardous, both for the workers and the environment. The workers are often exposed to toxic chemicals and hazardous materials, and accidents are not uncommon. In fact, the yard has been the site of several major accidents over the years, including explosions and fires that have resulted in numerous deaths.

Gadani
Gadani is a coastal village of Lasbela District located in the southern part of Balochistan along the Arabian Sea, Pakistan. It is also a Union Council of Hub Tehsil and is just a 1-hour drive away from Karachi, Sindh. The population of Gadani was estimated to be around 10,000 in 2005. More than 97% of the population is Muslim with a small Hindu minority. The majority of population speaks Balochi and there is a small Sindhi speaking minority. In Gadani majority of the population speaks a language named Balochi, this language is derived from Iran. They belong to Sanghur, Kurd, Sajdi, Muhammad Hasni, and Bezinjo tribes.
Many prehistoric shell-midden sites were discovered along the shores of a small bay, near Gadani. They are characterized of heaps of fragments of marine and mangrove shells among which are flint and jasper tools and stone querns. The first radiocarbon dates obtained from these middens indicate they result from the activity of people who settled along the coast both during the seventh and the fifth millennium before present.
